All the books say that nothing can melt your heart as quickly as your baby’s smile. Actually, there is one thing that’s even stronger, your baby’s laugh, or in our case, cackle:

Another thing that all the books say is that things get a lot more fun when your baby can finally interact with you. This is definitely true, and it starts happening in the second month, so you don’t have to wait all that long. I spend a lot of time marveling at how quickly these interactions advance. Sometimes she’ll only do something for a day or two before she moves on to the next thing.
