Lots of singing, humming, and… well… just random mouth-noises. A father will do just about anything to keep his daughter entertained. Fortunately for you, I haven’t recorded the out-of-tune ramblings that are part of our morning ritual. Many of them are sung once, with words that barely (or badly) rhyme, and then forgotten forever, sent to the island of lost-songs to live out their lonely days. But a few seem to surface repeatedly, perhaps because baby likes them, perhaps because they seem (in my questionable opinion) to be slightly higher quality than the rest, or perhaps simply because I can remember the words, and sometimes the tune. The top ten:
Buzza Buzza
Too Cute to Eat My Veggies (inspired by the bib of the same name)
Yao Bu Yao Chi Hen Hau Chi de Dong Xi? (This one’s in Chinese: Do You Want Something Delicious to Eat?)
Tommy The Cat, aka Say Baby (This is actually a cover; the original is by Primus.)
Bling Bling Money Bunny (written originally for her cousin Bo)
A Change Will Do Ya Good
(Another cover, this one by Sheryl Crow, but I don’t think she was referring to diapers.)
Little Bun Bun
(Hamster Hamster) Wiggly Wamster
Wo Shi Ni de Baba, Ni Shi Wo de Xiao Beibei
(Chinese again: I Am Your Daddy, You Are My Little Baby)
