Today is Exie’s half birthday! So we measured her height and went to Day One (a nearby store for new parents) to get her exact weight. She is officially 2′1” and 14 lbs. 10 oz. That puts her somewhere around 30th percentile in weight and for the first time dropping below the 50th percentile in height. Of course, she will bounce back in the height department since she is obviously destined to be a supermodel. :) We also did some ink footprints and a plaster mold of her chubby little hands. Getting her to cooperate for these procedures was a little tricky, but the results are worth it.
Perhaps this chair is too big.
But who cares?
I love it!
As a relevant tangent, we learned at a recent doctor appointment that the growth charts used in the U.S. are based on formula-fed, Caucasian babies. Since she is breast-fed and slightly more than half-Asian, it’s not surprising that her weight is less than average. Apparently, the WHO is going to release new charts in the near future that cover different types of babies, so that will be interesting.
Exie’s not ready for cake yet, but we did try food for the first time today. Let’s just say that we still have a ways to go in this department:
