Susan has gone to a fair amount of trouble making baby food from fresh organic fruits and veggies, but Exie is not having any of it. She only likes the stuff from the jars (at least she’ll eat the organic brand). And bagels, which of course she still can’t really eat, on account of the fact that she only has two teeth. She basically makes an ever-deepening groove in the underside of the bagel, and every few minutes she’ll manage to get a small piece off after she’s saturated it with a bucket of saliva. Usually this ends in her mushing it around for a while and then swallowing, but once in a while she starts choking and mommy or daddy has to swing into action, turning her upside down and patting her back, or fishing it out with a side-swiping pinkie (mommy’s way better at that one; daddy’s pinkie is a bit large for this maneuver). Someday (hopefully soon) she’ll learn how lucky she is that her mom is an awesome cook, but for now we’re just going with whatever works.
